Yes! It is I. Back from a little hiatus due to things having not been very fergalicious as of late. So sorry to my Thirdies who looked forward to this fortnightly endeavour - for being away. And then also so sorry to my Thirdies who forget to unsubscribe every fortnight and just delete this email - for being back.
I’ve taken a smidge of this time off to think about what I want to do with The Third going forward. And I’ve come to one conclusion: gut the whole thing except The Subscript. Maybe I’ll go long on an intro some weeks. Maybe I’ll just start with “hi.” But the list will always be there and it will (sometimes?) be a decent length and (definitely?) unhinged.
Time for me to end this little intro. I’m glad to be back writing this stupid, little newsletter! I’ll catch y’all in two weeks. Or if things become even less fergalicious than they are now, who knows when I’ll be back! Variety is the spice of life.
Con mucho amor,
Edu
Kicking this off with the Eurovision entries that I’m into: Sweden, United Kingdom, Austria, France, Moldova, Blanka, Italy, Serbia, Cyprus, Belgium, Denmark, and Ireland. As I’m writing this before Tuesday’s Semi-Final, fingers crossed my faves made it through! Sad if they didn’t though :(
This video of Penelope Cruz and Dua Lipa from the Met Gala.
Which speaking of the Met Gala, some standouts for me included this actress, this singer, and this rapper.
Uhmmm, this Rolling Stone Italia spread of Mahmood?? Giddy up.
TikTok algorithm has me hooked on this comedian’s crowdwork.
Music not related to Eurovision includes Sigrid, Madelline, Mara Sattei, and Alvaro Soler.
Banger of the Week goes to Bebe Rexha and Snoop Dogg! What a wild sentence to type out.
Actually, Bebe’s song with Dolly is also very good? I think I might be a Bebe stan?
Three remixes have found their way into my playlists: Ellie Goulding x southstar, Donna Summer x Le Flex, and LeAnn Rimes x Dave Audé.
Kopytka on the menu at Apteka!!!!!
Unhinged Duolingo Phrase of the Week:
This Instagram account serving Italian Summer™, while I serve Pittsburgh Summer™.
Bought this card set for the aesthetic even though I haven’t been in the great American wilderness for a hot minute.
I’m not fully caught up on Drag Race España (just finished episode 2, oops) but! this! look! and! this! look!
Continuing the Spain thread with this hilarious bit between Lola Flores and Estrellita Castro in Casa Flora.
And then also this mini report from TV3 in Catalunya about the voices of public transport.
Been watching this I Ricchi e Poveri performance as a mood booster lately.
While this ice/ice cream was advertised as gourmet and Italian, I’m not sure it’s really either of those things, but it was definitely good! And massive.
Hehe, a little French humor.
I can’t stop using Focus modes on my iPhone.
The vodka pie from Pizza Lupo is especially delicious.
Oh, and the baked goods at Driftwood Oven.
Oh oh, and whipped ricotta. Like in general.
And lastly, this app for book clubs. I kind of want to start one? Kind of. We’ll see.
